The crest of Sortino
A heart that never left home
Founder of Pantalica, Sebastiano Pitruzzello, carried Sortino in his soul—a love as deep as the ancient olive groves.
Though the world called him far, part of him never truly left the village of Sortino he cherished - its streets, its people, and the simple, enduring culture that shaped him.
The release of the Sortino town crest to the Pitruzzello family, as the official logo of Pantalica Cheese, symbolises a deep connection to the town’s heritage, traditions and values - an eternal bond with the place they will always call home.

A tribute to his community
In the town’s piazza stands a monument, a fountain carved from the very dry stone walls Sebastiano once helped build as a child in Sortino. It is a sculpture for all citizens of the world—a symbol of the new embraced and the old, never forgotten.
Panatalica's success is a tribute to his roots, built on lessons from family, friends, and the land he adored. Each year, he honored his home by sponsoring the Santa Sofia Cup, a cycling race held on the feast day of their patron saint—a celebration of community and tradition.
A Commandatore of the Order, honored by President Carlo Azelio Ciampi, Sebastiano's legacy lives on, through the spirit of generosity that flows like the Anapo River through the hills of Pantalica to every corner he touched around the world. His journey was never just his own—it was a gift, a promise, and a love letter to home.
