Pantalica
Fields and cliffs carved in stone that follow the Anapo River - Sicily, Southern Italy.

The region
Shaped over time by colonies from Greece, Spain, Tunisia and the Middle East lies a land carved out by nature and history alike - the region of Pantalica.
Pantalica is on the island of Sicily in the sun-kissed south of Italy. Its rugged hills and fields embrace both beauty and battle. Pantalica is a timeless crossroads between Europe, Africa, and the Middle East located at the very heart of the Mediterranean.

Home of the Seculi
Pantalica is home to the Seculi - one of Italy's first peoples who tirelessly work the deep limestone gorges and lands carved out by the Anapo and Calcinara Rivers.
Pantalica’s necropolis of over 5,000 grottos, chapels, and shepherds quarters cling to the cliffs providing sanctuary and shelter for farmers tending the herd.
These lands defined the craft, culture and traditions of Seculi agriculture that are still alive today.

4 Generations of tradition
Today Pantalica's ruins, blue waters, wildflowers, olive trees and forest shadows, carry forward the quiet romance of a civilization lost, but never forgotten.
Generational traditions of family, farming and cheese-making once only available to the local villages are now supplied around the globe.
To this day Pantalica's beauty is carved in the cliffs and the people that worked these lands. Its the birthplace and identity of everything that represents the Pantalica Cheese Company today.
