Lasagne
mozza bella / provole / nostrano
Lasagne is a classic Italian dish with layers of tender pasta, rich meat sauce, and creamy cheese, celebrated for generations across Italy. Perfect for family dinners, casual gatherings, or festive occasions, it’s a comforting crowd-pleaser that everyone loves.
INGREDIENTS :
500g minced beef or chicken
1 onion, chopped
1 garlic clove, minced
1 cup frozen peas
1 cup corn kernels (frozen or canned)
2 × 400g cans crushed tomatoes
2 tbsp tomato paste
9–12 lasagne sheets (no-boil or fresh)
250g ricotta or cottage cheese
1 cup grated mozzarella or Provole or Nostrano
Olive oil, salt & pepper
[ serves 4-6 people ]
STEPS :
Heat olive oil, sauté onion and garlic until soft
Add mince and cook until browned
Stir in tomato paste, crushed tomatoes, peas, corn, salt & pepper. Simmer 10–15 mins
Preheat oven to 180°C (350°F)
Spread a little sauce in a baking dish
Layer lasagne sheets, meat sauce, and dollops of ricotta. Repeat until all ingredients are used
Top with mozzarella/Parmesan
Cover with foil, bake 25 mins
Remove foil and bake another 10 mins until golden and bubblingbla
Let rest 5 mins, slice, and enjoy!
