TIRAMISU
mascarpone
Tiramisu is a classic Italian dessert, known for its luscious layers of creamy mascarpone, coffee-soaked biscuits, and a delicate dusting of cocoa. Originating in the Veneto region, it balances rich sweetness with the bold bitterness of espresso, making it a versatile treat for dinner parties, casual gatherings, or festive celebrations.
INGREDIENTS :
250g mascarpone cheese
3 large eggs, separated
100g caster sugar
1 tsp vanilla extract
200ml strong coffee, cooled
2 tbsp coffee liqueur (optional)
200g savoiardi (ladyfinger biscuits)
Cocoa powder, for dusting
[ serves 6-8 people ]
STEPS :
In a bowl, whisk egg yolks with sugar until pale and creamy
Add mascarpone and vanilla, and mix until smooth
In a separate bowl, whisk egg whites until stiff peaks form
Gently fold the egg whites into the mascarpone mixture
Mix coffee and liqueur in a shallow dish
Quickly dip each ladyfinger into the coffee (do not soak) and layer them in a serving dish
Spread half the mascarpone mixture over the biscuits
Repeat with another layer of dipped biscuits and the remaining mascarpone cream
Refrigerate for at least 4 hours (or overnight for best results)
Dust generously with cocoa powder before serving
